Consultation between stylist and the client should always move smoothly and rhythmically. Unfortunately, sometimes it's easy to forget that not everyone is in the industry. We may convey something that we assume you, the client, knows about.
I was going to focus this entry on current trends. I wrote a few paragraphs, and decided that the media shoves these trends down our throats constantly. I'm pretty sure we all know what Kim K's hair looks like. Oh, look, Beyoncé changed her weave.
During one of those corny entertainment "news" shows, I had a thought. A stylist was going on and on about balyage. I had no idea what the heck that even meant until I was in cosmetology school. It is a very old method of applying lightener to the hair without the use of foil or a cap. It allows us, stylists, the freedom to use your gorgeous heads as a canvas. It can be as subtle or blatant as you wish. The ombre trend is starting to incorporate the use of balyage to blend up the lighter color from the ends up.
Girls, you don't need to have super long hair for this look. I can totally be achieved on a shoulder length bob. Even a pixie can pull this fun look off. Throw in some beachy waves and bam. You're Hollywood.
PS- pictures scream a thousand words. Always bring one to your consultation. Your stylist will say, THANK YOU!
